Shello, lovely souls! I go by the name Oceanic, and my mermaid journey has taken me on a truly extraordinary adventure. I feel grateful to have been honored as Miss Michigan Mermaid for three consecutive years – 2021, 2022, & 2023, which has given me a meaningful platform to support my local water activist group, Need Our Water (NOW).

In 2022, I had the privilege of winning the Miss Michigan Mermaid title once again, this time at the respected Miss Mermaid Monarch International Pageant. This experience strengthened my resolve to continue fighting for water conservation and protecting our precious waterways.

Now, I have the pleasure of making appearances at various gatherings, including children's parties, corporate events, lively parades, and more. It fills my heart with joy to share my mermaid presence and use it to spread a message of environmental responsibility and love for our magnificent lakes, rivers, and oceans.

So, together, let's embark on a journey of wonder and inspiration. As Oceanic, I hope to encourage hearts of all ages to cherish and safeguard our invaluable waters, leaving a positive impact on the world we cherish. Come, dive into my world, and let the magic of a real mermaid ignite a wave of compassion and care within you.

What Makes a Good Mermaid?

Well, every mermaid spends hours creating their mer-sona. Not only do we have to fit into beautifully, custom made silicone tails, but we also have to spend hours in the pool training and free diving.  This job is a mix between acting, free diving, and modeling. A good mermaid is able to balance all three of these qualities.

A Little Bit More About Me

If you're curious to learn more about me, let's embark on a journey from the very beginning. From my earliest days, I found an irresistible allure in the water and to the fascinating creatures that call it home. One unforgettable moment etched in my memory is when, at the tender age of 4, I fearlessly swam amidst sharks in a tank at Disney World. This encounter ignited a curiosity within me - a thirst for knowledge about the ocean's wonders.

During my preteen years, fate took my family to the enchanting shores of Maui, Hawaii. It was here that my passion for freediving took flight, captivating me to the extent that I spent more time in the water than on the island itself. The allure of the ocean's depths gripped my soul, prompting me to seek every opportunity to explore its beauty.

As I blossomed into adulthood, my love for the aquatic realm continued to grow. Not only was I a dedicated collegiate swimmer at Texas State University, but I also relentlessly pursued various water certifications, including Divemaster, Rescue Diver, and Free Diving. Each achievement strengthened my bond with the water, and I knew I had found my life's calling.

Now, as Miss Michigan Mermaid, the influence of this unique identity has become a powerful tool for my mission. My purpose is clear - to impart my knowledge and skills to students of all ages, teaching them not only how to swim gracefully in the water but also instilling a deep reverence for its delicate ecosystem. I am determined to be an advocate for its preservation and cleanliness, inspiring others to follow in my wake.

With the magic of mermaiding, I aspire to create a generation of responsible water enthusiasts who cherish and safeguard our precious rivers, lakes, and oceans. Let us dive together into a world of wonder, where every stroke is a dance of respect and every lesson is a pledge to protect.
